FieldNote is an offline-first Android application designed for construction site visit reporting. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.
FieldNote does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data for advertising, analytics, or tracking purposes. The app has no user accounts and no analytics. External interactions are limited to Google Play for in-app purchases and, when the user chooses to use the audio transcription feature, a secure server for speech-to-text processing.
All core data (projects, visits, notes, photos) is stored locally on your device. Photos are saved in the app's private storage directory. PDF reports are generated locally and never uploaded anywhere.
FieldNote Pro includes an optional audio transcription feature that converts speech to text. When you use this feature, audio is temporarily recorded on your device, sent to our secure server hosted in France (EU) for processing, and the resulting text is inserted into your note.
The audio file is deleted from your device immediately after transcription. No audio is stored on our server — it is forwarded to the transcription service, processed, and discarded.
This feature is entirely opt-in: audio is only sent when you actively tap the transcription button. If you do not use this feature, no audio data ever leaves your device. You can disable transcription at any time in the app settings.
These permissions are used solely within the app and never for data collection.
FieldNote offers an optional Pro subscription to unlock unlimited projects, visits, and photos, as well as audio transcription. Payment transactions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. FieldNote does not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play.
FieldNote uses Google Play Billing to process in-app purchases. The audio transcription feature relies on a third-party speech-to-text service (Mistral AI) hosted in the European Union. Audio data is sent exclusively for transcription and is not retained by the service. No advertising, analytics, or tracking services are used.
All locally stored data can be deleted at any time directly within the app, or by uninstalling it. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. Audio recordings used for transcription are deleted immediately after processing and are not recoverable.
FieldNote is not directed at children under 13.
