FieldNote is an offline-first Android application designed for construction site visit reporting. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data.
FieldNote does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data for advertising, analytics, or tracking purposes. The app has no user accounts and no analytics. External interactions are limited to Google Play for in-app purchases and, when the user chooses to use Pro AI features, a secure server for audio transcription and text enrichment.
All core data (projects, visits, notes, photos) is stored locally on your device. Photos are saved in the app's private storage directory. PDF reports are generated locally and never uploaded anywhere.
FieldNote Pro includes two optional AI features that rely on a secure server hosted in France (EU) for processing. Both features are entirely opt-in and only activated when you explicitly tap the corresponding button.
Converts speech to text. When you use this feature, audio is temporarily recorded on your device, sent to our secure server for processing, and the resulting text is inserted into your note. The audio file is deleted from your device immediately after transcription. No audio is stored on our server — it is forwarded to the transcription service, processed, and discarded. You can disable transcription at any time in the app settings.
Corrects spelling, grammar, and reformulates your visit notes in professional construction language. When you use this feature, the text content of your visit (notes and description, excluding the visit title) is sent to our secure server for processing. The enriched text is returned to the app for your review — you choose whether to apply it or discard it. No text is stored on our server — it is forwarded to the AI service, processed, and discarded.
These permissions are used solely within the app and never for data collection.
FieldNote offers an optional Pro subscription to unlock unlimited projects, visits, and photos, as well as AI features (audio transcription and text enrichment). Payment transactions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. FieldNote does not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play.
FieldNote uses Google Play Billing to process in-app purchases. The AI features (audio transcription and text enrichment) rely on a third-party AI service (Mistral AI) hosted in the European Union. Audio and text data are sent exclusively for processing and are not retained by the service. No advertising, analytics, or tracking services are used.
All locally stored data can be deleted at any time directly within the app, or by uninstalling it. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. Audio recordings used for transcription are deleted immediately after processing and are not recoverable. Text sent for enrichment is processed in real time and not stored.
FieldNote is not directed at children under 13.
